This event was attended by 45 members and we were very pleased to see them all. Despite the invitation stipulating that the invitation was now open to both members and partners, the numbers continue to fall.
After a delay to allow those atttending the funeral of Les Swan to arrive, the Chairman, Derek Gosden opened the AGM by welcoming all those who came, and read out apologies from members unable to attend and those who no longer wished to attend, either due to infirmity or distance from the venue. He also reported the recent deaths of Bernard Cass, Jim Gay, Ken Shaw and of course, Les Swan.
He announced that all the committee had been willing to serve but, at a late stage, David Elvin felt obliged to resign. He proposed that Terry Harper, who looked after the Club Web Site, be elected to replace David, and David Powdrill seconded the proposal. There being no further nominations for office, he therefore declared that Terry was elected and that the Officers would be appointed en bloc to serve another term.
He then presented our hard-working secretary, Lin Cooper, with a token of our appreciation in recognition of her continued good work and of her efforts in the administration of the event.
The Treasurer, David Powdrill, gave his report and gave a copy of the accounts to be published on the web site. They can be seen by clicking here. The Club continues to have a healthy balance in the bank. He thanked all those who had followed instructions and paid in advance.
The AGM concluded with thanks to the Officers, a reminder of the regular monthly meetings at Warninglid and at the Tavern on the Green, and the Buffet was opened.
As usual, the food was excellent, and we were unable to do full justice to the spread prepared for us.
