Report on the Second Reunion Dinner of the WD Club held on Saturday, 19th April, 2003 at Goff's Park Hotel, Crawley.

The Dinner was again well attended, with 88 present. This was eight fewer than last year, but considering the date was in the Easter Weekened, was considered good. Informality was the rule, and Chairman David Elvin gave a brief address. He welcomed Joe Farley and his wife to the dinner, Joe now being 92. Lin Cooper was thanked for all her organisational work, including trying to persuade people to buy more raffle tickets. David announced that next year's dinner would be on Saturday, 17th April 2004, conveniently not during the Easter weekend. He also reminded members of the Buffet Lunch at Southwater Sports Club, on Wednesday, 24th September 2003. Derek Gosden was thanked for his good offices in frequently ensuring that the beer supply there was satisfactory. Chris Openshaw was asked to recommend a barber.

David commented that the draw should be much more democratic this year, as Frank Hart was not present, and drew the first ticket, which was not his own. Later someone drew a ticket for David, and then a second, which David graciously declined to accept.

Lin was presented with a bouquet by David, and then the Hon Treasurer found a second bouquet for her, in recognition of the fact that she had done most of his work as well this year.

Robin reported that the Club had spent £50.03 on raffle prizes, and many had been donated. The surplus would be approximately £300, to be split evenly between St Catherine's Hospice and the Chase Foundation for Children, in Guildford.

The party finally broke up some time after 11.00 p.m., and the dinner was much more than satisfying. The treacle sponge in particular would have served three or even four!
