Report on the 50th Reunion Dinner held on Friday, 8th June, 2001 at the Crawley Club, Brighton Road, Crawley.

The Dinner was well attended, with an almost-full house. Informality was the rule, but Chairman Chris Openshaw made a brief speech.

Chris announced that he had received over 50 apologies, including such notables as Fred Spriggs, who was cruising, having had the PSA test (which he recommends), Roger Carter, recovering from a heart attack, Howard Malleson, Peter Finlayson, John Steinmann and Brian Mills. He also announced the resignations of Les Jarman and Alan Cook from the Club.

He particularly welcomed Joe Farley to the event, as he had been present at the Club's inaugural dinner. Joe retired during the 1970s, and was escorted by his daughter-in-law Zena.

In the sporting field, he paid tribute to Doug Adair's Gold Medal for the 60m Sprint.

Chris was sad to have to report the deaths of John Allen and Dora Kuttner.

Chris concluded by mentioning the proposed changes to the Club and it's New Constitution, to be discussed at the meeting to be held in the George Hotel at 12.00 noon, on Wednesday, 26th September 2001. He also mentioned the regular first Wednesday get-togethers at Warninglid and Crawley, and encouraged more to attend them. That at the Black Dog regularly attracts over 30 members. Finally he paid tribute to the committee and thanked David Elvin for agreeing to lift the burden from his shoulders at the EGM.

The traditional Raffle raised £357, which was donated to St Catherine's Hospice.
