Annual General Meeting and Buffet Lunch
held on 24th October 2007
at Southwater Sports Club, Church Lane, Southwater
- The AGM was very brief. David Elvin announced that he felt that
it was time to stand down from the chair, after five years.
Derek Gosden had agreed to take over the Chairmanship. David Powdrill
had agreed to continue as Treasurer, and our ever-youthful secretary,
Lin Cooper, was willing to continue. David had agred to remain as a
Committee Member. No other nominations had been received, and they
were elected en bloc with acclaim.
- The Hon Treasurer reported a balance of £1,080.42 at 31st
December 2006. This was adequate to fund the planned functions.
- Just over 50 Members attended the function. A considerable number
had apologised because of looking after grandchildren during half-term,
being on holiday, or because of infirmity or distance. It was pointed
out that the event had been moved from the fourth Wednesday in September,
because of the number on holiday, and it was agreed that the present
arrangement should continue.
- The new Chairman took over and reminded everybody that it would be
helpful if as many as possible could receive notices by E-mail. This would
help to contain future costs of postage. As lunch was ready, he concluded
with a hope that everybody would enjoy themselves.
